    Good reminders about different options for purchasing food - like canned veggies or frozen fruit as a way to get nutritious food when it's not in season. I also didn't know about the whole grain seal on bread. And there was good discussion about options for using up more parts of vegetables that we normally do.

    I'm involved! I love the different steps which are doable and specific. Easier to do this in steps and increase awareness as you go.

    We definitely waste less food when I focus on purchasing the right amount of produce for what we will need in our meal plan. My husband is better at that then I am, so I've learned from him how to be more thoughtful and realistic about the amount of fruits and vegetables I purchase.

    The most common items we waste are vegetables and fruits that we bought too much of or just didn't eat - sometimes we buy things as healthy snacks but then never eat them. We also tend to waste the ends of bread and tortillas and half jars of sauces - we just don't focus on using those up or forget to plan a meal around the sauce we have left....

    we always have a plan and don't have rely on unhealthy options like fast food. We try to plan meals around the days we know we'll be extra busy and create an easy plan for those days.

    I am surprised that am utilizing a lot of our food correctly even if it's not perfect. I'm really aware of imperfect food not being acceptable and therefore requiring producers to use chemical aides to create perfect food. I'm being more deliberate now in buying and using.
