Reflection QuestionWeek 1 Focus: Planning Learn About and Choose a Meal Plan StyleWhat meal plan method works for you and why? Have you tried some in the past that didn't work?
Katherine Kelly 10/20/2021 5:16 PMI believe my meal plan method is a little of everything. Theme night. Fully scheduled. Freezer cooking day. and left over day. -
Reflection QuestionWeek 1 Focus: Planning Attend Week 1's WorkshopWhat was your main takeaway from this workshop?
Katherine Kelly 10/20/2021 5:13 PMI liked all the power point slides, meal plan- check freezer, check pantry and buy staples such as rice and noodles, and the mindful exercise was a nice way to end my day. Yet, my favorite take away from this workshop was the Frittata.
I am going to make Frittata this weekend for quick and easy breakfast meals next week. -
Reflection QuestionWeek 1 Focus: Planning Create a Weekly Meal PlanAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money? How has meal planning helped you avoid waste?
Katherine Kelly 10/20/2021 8:55 AMNo. sadly, this waste doesn't surprise me. I would rather use the money to buy my growing son bigger clothes and to go visit my mother. My mother would meal plan when I was younger. Now as an adult with a family I understand the importance of meal planning. This week the meal plan helped me save food waste as we made a plan before going into the grocery store. Once inside the store we stuck to what was on our list. Planning for Meatless Monday, Taco Tuesday, pizza night, Ect. will assist our family with our food waste goals. -
Reflection QuestionWeek 1 Focus: Planning Track My Wasted FoodWhat did you find you are tossing the most? How can you change your habits to avoid wasting this food?
Katherine Kelly 10/20/2021 8:45 AMWe tossed condiments of cream cheese and hummus. My house can buy less of these items, not buy these items or commit to using the items in full before we buy the condiments. -
