  • Reflection Question
Week 2 Focus: Shopping Scrutinize Deals
Are you someone who typically chooses what you buy based on what is on sale? How can you make sure you don't buy more than what you need?

I definitely shop by the ad. I do have some pantry space, so I will stock up on staple items that don't go bad. I have learned that keeping an inventory sheet is necessary for this style of purchasing to keep items rotated and fresh.

Week 2 Focus: Shopping Stick to Your Grocery List
What are some of the things you typically buy that you weren't on your list? How do you think you might limit some of those purchases?

This one is hard for me. I tend to either impulse buy.

    Planning Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

I will save money not buying fresh produce I can generate myself, and I can pick only what I will use, or at the end of the season I can freeze/can excess.
  • Reflection Question
Week 1 Focus: Planning Learn About and Choose a Meal Plan Style
What meal plan method works for you and why? Have you tried some in the past that didn't work?

I have tried the weekly plans with shopping lists, but either my family doesn't like the meal, or I just don't have the energy to cook some of the planned menus. Then the food goes to waste.
  • Reflection Question
Week 1 Focus: Planning Keep a Food Inventory
Are there food items you have been better about using up and not wasting since you started keeping an inventory of what's in your fridge?

I am doing better with the fresh produce.
  • Reflection Question
Week 1 Focus: Planning Create a Weekly Meal Plan
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money? How has meal planning helped you avoid waste?

Planning is helping me realize what I have on hand and plan meals around what we have. I save money by not tossing food that outdates, and also not buying additional groceries we don't need.

Meal planning before going to the grocery store and having a framework can really help cut down on waste.

Worked on keeping up with the leftovers and organizing the fridge so items stop migrating to the back and get lost.
